You Were Chosen: The Divine Calling of Motherhood

There's a profound truth that often gets lost in the chaos of daily parenting, amid the scattered toys and sleepless nights: not one mother on this planet decided when she would have a baby. Whether through natural conception, adoption, or any other path to motherhood, the timing was never truly in human hands. Every child enters the world at the exact moment ordained by their Creator, a moment chosen with divine precision and purpose.

This reality shifts everything we think we know about motherhood.

Searched and Found

Imagine the Creator of the universe searching the entire earth with a specific child in mind, looking for one woman, the only woman, perfectly suited to raise that particular child. Not because she's perfect, not because her life circumstances are ideal, but because in His infinite wisdom, He saw something in her that no one else could see.

He saw her heart. He saw her circumstances. He saw her past, her present, and her future. And after considering everything, He declared: "She's worthy. She's the one."

This is the extraordinary truth of motherhood. God doesn't lend His children, His own spirit wrapped in flesh, to just anyone. He searches, He considers, and He chooses with intentionality that surpasses human understanding.

The Psalmist reminds us that children are a heritage from the Lord (Psalm 127:3), and Scripture tells us that God's thoughts and ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). His plan might not make sense to us. The timing might seem wrong. The circumstances might appear less than ideal. But His choice stands: you are the only woman fit to be your child's mother.

The Anointing You Already Carry

Here's what changes everything: when God chose you for your child, He didn't send them to you and say, "Good luck, figure it out on your own." You didn't receive your child without also receiving every resource of heaven necessary to raise them into everything God created them to be.

You are anointed to be your child's mother.

Too many mothers exhaust themselves trying to parent in their own strength. They scroll through social media looking for parenting tips, compare themselves to other mothers, and collapse into bed each night feeling like they're failing. But what if the answer isn't found in another Instagram reel or parenting book? What if the strategy you need for your specific child is available directly from the Source?

Your child entered your life with heaven's full backing. The question isn't whether you have what it takes, the question is whether you'll access what's already been given.

What You Feast On Matters

The fruit of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23), isn't just a list of nice qualities. It's spiritual sustenance available for every mother who needs it.

Scripture tells us that from the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks (Luke 6:45). Whatever fills your temple, your mind, your heart, your spirit, will overflow into your children's lives. The music playing in your home, the shows streaming in the background, the conversations you have, the attitudes you carry, all of it becomes the atmosphere your children breathe.

Proverbs 4:23 instructs us to guard our hearts above all else, for everything we do flows from it. As a mother, your voice carries more weight than any other voice in your child's life. They believe what you say without question. They trust you wholly. This sacred trust demands that we consider carefully what flows from us to them.

But here's the beautiful part: engaging with the Holy Spirit to fill yourself with what you need is remarkably simple. Feeling overwhelmed with anxiety? "Holy Spirit, fill me with peace today." Frustrated beyond measure? "Holy Spirit, give me patience for my child, and for myself." Battling sadness? "Holy Spirit, fill me with joy."

When you feast on the fruit of the Spirit, you're able to use your voice, the most important voice to your child, to fill them up with whatever they need.

Calling Them What God Calls Them

Have you ever asked God what He calls your child? Not their given name, but their spiritual identity, who He created them to be before they drew their first breath?

He'll tell you if you ask.

Knowing what God calls your child transforms how you parent them. It allows you to see them through His eyes, especially in difficult moments. It gives you the ability to speak to their spirit, to call forth the identity He established in them from the foundation of the world.

This isn't about ignoring bad behavior or skipping discipline. Scripture is clear that discipline, though painful in the moment, yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those trained by it (Hebrews 12:11). But after correction, after discipline, a faithful mother reminds her children of the truth about who they are according to their Creator.

When you know what God calls your child, you can protect their identity. You can defend it against the voices, even well-meaning ones, that would dilute or confuse it. You become the guardian not just of their physical safety but of their spiritual identity.

Sitting at the Feet of Your Teacher

Perhaps the most counterintuitive key to motherhood is this: let your children teach you about God.

We put enormous pressure on ourselves as mothers to have all the answers, to know exactly what to do in every situation. But what if we gave ourselves permission to learn from our children? What if we positioned ourselves to sit at the feet of these little teachers who haven't yet learned to complicate their relationship with the Divine?

Children see God with clarity that adults often lose. They hear His voice naturally. They were with Him before they were with us, after all. If we listen, truly listen, they will teach us about His heart in ways that sermons and books and worship experiences cannot.

This doesn't diminish our role as mothers. We still guide, correct, and train. But we do so with humility, recognizing that these children we're raising also have something to teach us.

Clothed in Strength and Dignity

Proverbs 31:25-28 paints a picture of a woman clothed with strength and dignity, who can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom because she fills herself with the right things. Faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over her household and doesn't eat the bread of idleness. And her children rise up and call her blessed.

This is the heart of a kingdom mother, not perfection, but faithfulness. Not having it all figured out, but knowing where to go for answers. Not parenting in her own strength, but accessing the anointing she already carries.

You were chosen, mama. Out of everyone on earth, you were chosen for your child. There is nobody better qualified, nobody more anointed, nobody more trusted by God to raise your specific children than you.

He searched the whole earth and found you. He saw you and said, "She's worthy."

Believe Him.
