Search the transcript 0:00 At least that's what I'm told. The subject today is the inheritance you choose. So turn to somebody and say the inheritance you choose. So let me give a little... 0:16 insight into what I want to do today because as I begin to share about this right off the bat I am going to share three different scriptures in a row that point to what's the Holy Spirit put in me to release to all of us. So I want you to hear today with an honest ear. My hope and prayer is that being here this morning that you will listen, take notes, write down 0:45 Let Holy Spirit really develop in you the message that He wants to release today. Because sometimes we are in a place that we think is right, but isn't the place He prepared for you. And the only way that we ever find that out is when we submit ourselves to His truth and 1:10 and allow Holy Spirit to do what we talked about a couple weeks ago, but to raise up within us a spirit of discernment that will help us to line out the right moment, the right position. So today, we are going to learn about inheritance. And I'm going to ask you a question. Can we all, can everyone in this room, or let me say it this way, everyone in this room that is expecting an inheritance, and I'm not trying to call you out because I'm looking for you to tithe on it, 1:42 Don't misinterpret what I'm saying, but you should. But everyone in this room that is expecting an inheritance, there's no arrogance in it, but if you're expecting an inheritance of any kind, raise your hand. Somebody write down all their names because we want, no, I'm just kidding. So do it again. You're expecting an inheritance of any kind, raise your hand. Every single hand should be in this room. Raise your hand. 2:08 No person has ever lived on the planet Earth. No person has ever been breathed into the pneuma breath of God that did not receive an inheritance. Every single person can expect an inheritance. It's coming. In fact, there may be more than one. 2:31 See, in Luke 16.10, let me read these few scriptures. It says this, says Luke 16.10, one who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much. Everybody say this, say a personality or characteristics, if not given attention to, will not change my circumstances, just won't. Likes and dislikes, if not, if I don't pay attention to it, 3:08 It's not going to change my circumstances. I have to pay attention because sometimes our likes and our dislikes, likes or dislikes, get in the way. Our situation, our personality, our characteristics that we have, our nature sometimes gets in the way. And I know a lot of people say, well, you can't change your personality. No. Well, your personality was developed. Your personality is a culmination of all the things that you've accepted over your lifetime. 3:30 Your personality is formulated and formed by all the things that were allowed for you, given to you, and things that you received that might have belonged to you and might not have belonged to you. Your personality is the finished cake. All the things that made it the cake is the batter that you put into it and the kind of eggs and all the other things that you put into it. You understand what I'm saying this morning? 3:52 So Luke 16.10 again says this, one who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much. And then in 1 Corinthians 4.2 says, moreover, it is required of stewards. Everybody say, I'm a steward. Say it again. Say, I am a steward. I am a steward. 4:12 Moreover, now I realize this is Paul talking to the Corinthians about the position of the apostles at the time, but in essence, he is speaking to the body of Christ. So, moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found, what? Let's say it again. Moreover, it is required of me that I be found, say it with me this way, moreover, it is required of me that I be found faithful. Faithful. 4:40 And then in Proverbs 4, verse 23, it says, Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of living, of life, of fulfillment, of prosperity. Not in the sense of money, but in the sense of all things are answered. Things are taken care of. And I'm not talking about money. 5:02 Physical things, I'm talking about life as a whole, peace of mind, peace of heart, peace of purpose, all of these things. Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life. So I want to reiterate again what I said a few moments ago, that we all receive an inheritance. Look at your neighbor, say you are going to receive an inheritance. It's coming, tell them, say it's coming, whether you want it to or not. 5:34 It's a true statement. So we're all going to receive an inheritance, but where that inheritance comes from and what it looks like depends on you and me. Listen to this next statement I'm about to make. Your inheritance, you don't have to say it, but you can. Write this down. I would write this down. Your inheritance is not predetermined by the one leaving it. It is determined by the one receiving it. 6:07 I would venture to say that in this room there are people that are counting on 6:15 An inheritance. Even if they don't know they have one, they're counting on it. Man, if I could just, all I need is this one to leave me this. And if they would just leave me, I know they've got that. And if they would just leave this, it would get me out of the hole. And there are people that are living their lives depending on an inheritance that they have some expectation for. And I want to tell you that the outcome of that inheritance is not going to provide for those who are waiting on it 6:45 What they think it will. There's a reason that when people win the lottery, they've never paid attention to the things that matter. They win the lottery and all of a sudden they think, this is the answer to all my problems. And then a year, two years later, they're more in debt and trouble than they were before they won it in the first place. 7:05 Maybe they at least had a one-bedroom apartment on the back of whatever place that they were living at before the lottery. And then after the lottery, they find themselves living in the back of an alley in a tent that they had to build out of a box because they didn't pay attention to what was the right thing to pay attention to. 7:25 So again, your inheritance is not predetermined by the one leaving it. Now someone might say, well, I know that it is because, you know, I know that my parents or my grandparents or these people, I know that they wrote me into their will. My kids know that my wife and I wrote them into our will. They know that they're getting an inheritance from Kim and me, but it isn't our predetermination that gives them that inheritance. Right? 7:49 The choices they make will determine what that inheritance does for them and what kind of inheritance it is. It could be one of blessing or it could be one that ruins their lives depending on what they do up until that time. Are you hearing me this morning? So our inheritance, everybody say this with me, say our inheritance is determined by our decisions. Now say this, and our decisions are determined by the details we pay attention to. 8:25 I'm going to say it again. Our inheritance is determined by our decisions, and our decisions are determined by the details that we pay attention to. In the same way that we all, everyone in this room that we said just a moment ago, have an inheritance, and which inheritance we receive is one that we choose. Depending on the inheritance we receive is the one that we choose to receive. Because remember, we're all going to get one. 8:51 And we choose what inheritance we get, an inheritance that will provide for us life, as we read about, or an inheritance that will provide for us death and destruction, an inheritance that will provide for us joy and fulfillment, or we're going to receive an inheritance that will provide for us oppression, loss, failure, and we just didn't accomplish anything. We've become nothing. 9:11 Our decisions are determined by the details we pay attention to. So we need to, in the same way that we recognize that there is an inheritance that is assigned to all of us or provisioned for all of us, there is an inheritance provisioned for all of us. The way that we understand that and receive it well is by paying attention to the details of our life. 9:39 Now, people might say, well, I pay attention. I do that. I do that every day. But you don't just pay attention to the details that are obvious. You have to pay attention to the right details. See, paying attention to the wrong details will afford you the wrong outcome. 9:57 I said something to someone recently. I said it to a group of people. In fact, I think I said it to the team last week. What we do is oftentimes we get this big picture of what this is what we want to do. This is where we want to be. And we think that we pay attention to specific details and it's going to get us there. The problem is just because you can see the big picture doesn't mean that big picture automatically belongs to you. Just because you have a vision for it doesn't mean it's just going to be plopped into your lap. 10:24 Just because you've dreamed of it all your life doesn't mean it's just going to occur. I'm telling you, if you don't pay attention to the right details, you will never experience the vision, the dream that he has put before you. We have to pay attention to the right details to get the right inheritance because if we pay attention to the wrong details, we will get an inheritance, but it will not be the one that was initially intended for you and me. You're hearing me in here this morning. Amen. 10:54 So I want to share a story with you that happened. Some of you will know about this. Some of you were here during this time. I just had this conversation. My wife and I did recently. But when we, Kim and I, started the Rock of Central Florida and we had our first service in Deltona and our home in Deltona. 11:13 on 779 Superior Street. Then we moved out of there and we went to the hotel. When we got to the hotel, from the moment we left the house and we got to the hotel in Lake Mary and then we went to the storefront and then we went to the theater and it was just a lot of stuff happening. But everywhere we went, what many of you, probably most of you, don't realize, and I'm saying this this morning not as a point of arrogance in the wrong way, I'm saying this to point something out to you. 11:42 During those seasons and when we built this building, whenever I would park, I would say to my wife and with my kids, I would always drop them off at the door and then I would find the farthest parking lot away from the building. I would go the furthest away that I could. And I would leave room, even though in the hotel, we only had three people come every week. But I had a vision for a hundred and I dreamed for a hundred. Amen. 12:10 It did not come into fruition at the hotel, but I parked as though it was coming. So we would get to the hotel, and I would drop them off under the portico, and then I would drive out to the Back 40 in that Homewood Suites Hotel, and I would drive where I needed to be, and I was just believing that all these parking lot spaces are going to be full by the time we get out of church. So I'm going to make sure I leave room for them. 12:33 We went out of there and we went into the storefront. We went out into the storefront. Those of you that were here back then, you'll know. You walk out that double door and there's an aisle right to the left. And my car was always at the very end of that row, always on that second side, that left side at the very end of the row in that parking lot. I would park there every single service, every single time, believing. You know what? We might only have 20 people, but I'm believing for 100. I'm believing for 1,000. 12:56 Whatever it was, I had a vision for more than what was in front of us, and I positioned myself to allow that to happen. I'm getting somewhere. Then we get into the movie theater. That's just a story that needs more time, but I'm just going to tell it this way. We get to the Seminole County movie theater, Seminole Town City movie theater, and 13:18 Same thing. Find that farthest parking space out and believe me on rainy days and I'm walking out there I'm soaking wet by the time I would get to my wife and kids and pick them up but I would park the furthest out. We left there. 13:30 We get into the building. We move into this. We were at Strang. We were at the Strang building. Did the same thing at Strang building. Then we got here. We built this building. When we first built this building, you remember the parking lot that's no longer there because they've torn it out now. But all the way down at the end, there was a parking space. And I would park right down there at that very end parking space for years and years and years until one day. To me, it wasn't a thing. To me, it was I want to make room for whosoever will. Who's coming? I'm going to make room for them. 13:59 I'm going to make room. That was a detail that was important to me. You know what? I don't want to be in the space that someone else can. I'm not saying to you, park out there. This is my story. Listen to what I want. There's a point. There's a point. 14:12 And then on a Sunday morning, on a given Sunday morning, and I don't remember what year it was exactly. Some of you might remember. I'm sure you'll remember this occurring. But on a given Sunday morning, a man named who passed away some years ago, but one of the sons of the house, he was a friend of mine. His name was John Gluon. And John Gluon, as I was preaching, I had come down here to the front and I was standing here. 14:34 And it would be neat to find that video if we have it online. And I was standing up here at the front. We didn't have this speaker here. John Gluon used to sit right back there, sir, where you are. He'd sit right about there every single Sunday. And he gets up and he starts walking towards me. How many remember what you know where I'm going? John Gluon was, I'm trying to think how I described John. He was quiet, but not afraid to say what he thought. So, but you could count on John. 15:05 You knew John was going to be there for you, no matter what. Anyway, he gets out of his seat. He comes down. I'm preaching. He comes down, and he says, I said, John, can I help you? He said, can I sit with you? And I said, sure. So we sat down. I sat down right here, and he sat down right here beside me. And I'm waiting for him. I'm thinking he's about to pour something out, man. I'm thinking something deep is coming from John, and I'm ready. And then he says, I said, John, do you want to say something? He said, I just want to honor you and your wife. 15:33 And for all the years and everything that you guys have done and what you've sown into the rock and what you've yada yada. And he just talked about that. And it was nice. It was kind. And it was genuine. It was from his heart. And then he said, and I'm going to do something today. He said, sir, you're not parking out there anymore. He said, you have parked at the other end of that parking lot for the last time. This is in front of the whole church. He said, you've parked there for the last time. 15:54 I want you, and I'm going to pay for it, but I want you to order two reserve parking space signs, one for you and one for your wife, and I want you to plant those out there in the closest parking space you can find. Put those signs in there and don't let anybody ever park there. Now, that was against my grain. First of all, don't tell me what to do. That was against my grain because to me it was for years at that point, probably 9, 10, 11 years that I'd been parking out as far away as I could be. 16:32 And then that week, they got the sign. We put it up, put the signs up. And for a long time, when I would pull into that parking space, man, it just was hard for me because I'm watching people walk from way out there as I'm walking in. So I had little tricks. Well, if I get there early enough, I don't have to watch them walking in because it bothered me. 17:03 But it didn't bother John, and it didn't bother the people of this house. In fact, when John said that, everybody in this house started rejoicing and jumped right in and were a part of the whole thing. But it bothered me very much. Not so much for my wife, but it did for me. And it took time for me to get past that and to feel comfortable pulling into a parking lot. I mean, at that time, I'm 61 now. That was almost 20 years ago. I'd have been in my 40s. 17:31 I mean, I can walk to the end. I could walk to 7-Eleven right now. I don't need a parking space 50 feet away from the front door. But he was pointing something out. What I didn't know was testing my heart. And eventually, I grew comfortable with that space, and I was going to protect that. I'm getting somewhere. Listen to me this morning because this is important for you. It was a gift. It was a gift of honor. And I thought, I'm going to protect that space. 18:03 And I get vigilant about it. If someone parks in my space, I get vigilant about it. In fact, I made somebody probably mad the other day at the preschool. I don't care. I don't want you to think ugly of me, but I'm going to tell you the story. So I said a few weeks ago, I said, because of all this construction, park in that space on Sundays. Man, I'm going to give it up. See, the gift was given to me. I have the right to give it or I have the right to protect it. Either way. 18:34 So I said, on Sunday mornings, please park in my space. Leave my wife's for hers. But park in my space. And I still mean that. On Sunday mornings when we gather together, park in my space. I'm happy. I'll rejoice. Park in my space. I don't care if it's raining or not. I will park in the grass. It doesn't bother me. Park there. But during the week, don't touch it. During the week, that's my space. So I would come in over the last couple weeks. I'd come in in the morning, and I'd get here. And when I'd get here, there was the same car in my space every day. Every day. Every day. Every day. 19:09 And I'm trying to have grace. I don't know whose car it is. I've never seen the car other than see it in my space. Didn't see the car. I came in. I had a meeting that I was trying to get to this past week. And I got here. I think it was Wednesday or Thursday morning. I can't remember. And I get here and I drive up. Well, there's that car again in my space. What was even worse is there's like five other spaces right beside it. 19:36 And I drove all the way, I went all the way down to the end because I thought, well, if I can't park there, I'm going to drive on down. And I drove all the way down. I get all the way down there. I get out of the car while I'm walking back and I'm thinking, you know what? I haven't wanted to say something or ask about it because I'm not trying to make people mad or let people get the wrong idea about me because it would be the wrong idea. But I'm not going to let this go because that was a gift. And if I don't protect the gift, I cannot receive the inheritance that comes from it. So it was perfect timing. Holy Spirit set up. 20:12 So I start getting up here, I start rounding that corner and I see a lady walking right towards that car and I thought... I'm walking, I get over there, she has just gotten in the car, she closes her door and as she closes her door, she starts the car and I go... And I knocked on the window. She rolled her window down, she said, "Hello." I said, "Ma'am, do you realize that you're in a reserved parking space?" She said, "Yeah, but it's... I didn't really think it mattered. Does it matter?" And I said, "It really does matter." I said, "It matters for a couple of reasons. One, it's my space." 20:50 And my car is parked down there right now. And I know some of you are thinking, well, that's a woman. Yep, she could park right down there. Or in the four spaces that were beside me. And I said, yes, ma'am. I said two things. One, that's my space reserved for me. And I said, it's not for you. It doesn't have your name on it. It's not for you. She said, well, I don't understand. I said, well, let me help you understand. I was kind. Now, don't think I wasn't being rude at all. I was being very kind. And I said, well, let me help you understand. I said, there's a man in this church. 21:36 that when my wife and i started this church and went through some of the story and i said and you know what he he determined with the people of the house that this was going to be a gift to her and me and if i don't protect the gift i'm not going to get the inheritance from the gift so i said i don't know if you can understand this but i'm just i'm protecting the gift so i would ask you please don't park here anymore she said yes sir i've got a good feeling when i get here tuesday morning that space is going to be empty so hold on i want you to understand this morning why 22:12 That was important to me. If I don't honor the gift, now people might interpret, if you know me, if you don't know me, you're going to interpret this story all wrong. If you do know me, you'll interpret it right. Whether you know me or you don't know me, your interpretation is irrelevant to me. What is relevant to me is the gift of God 22:37 What he sent to me, and my prayer and my hope is that when he sends something to you, you protect what the Father gives you so that you can receive the inheritance that will come from it. If you do not protect what the Father puts in your hands, you will never know what the inheritance is that's allotted for it. Are you hearing me this morning? And see what the problem was, is I said earlier, 23:09 If you pay attention to the wrong details, you'll have the wrong outcome. You'll get the wrong inheritance. If you pay attention to the right details, you'll get the right inheritance. See, I paid attention to the details. It took me a while because I was just going to let it go, let it go, let it go, let it go, let it go. But I'm telling you, it was Holy Spirit that was really in me saying, Steve, don't let this go. You're paying attention to the wrong detail. The detail you're paying attention to is, oh, it's a sweet, it's probably a sweet lady. I didn't know at the time, but it could be a lady, could be whatever. And they're just there for five minutes. They're just there for 10 minutes. 23:39 If I pay attention to that detail, I'm going to let her do that, do that, do that, do that, do that, and never receive the inheritance of being able to park right there. But when I start paying attention to the right detail, wait a minute, that was a gift to me. The right detail is, Father, you provided this. And I'm not going to pretend like you didn't. You did that through the faithfulness of a people that you sent to us and you sent us to. 24:01 And we're going to honor that. Now, if she, she has a choice. See, she paid attention to the wrong detail. You can't pull into those spots. This isn't about a reserved spot. This is about the principle. But she couldn't pull into that spot and see, and not see the sign reserved for. She paid attention to the wrong detail. But see, that's a sense of entitlement. That's paying attention to the wrong detail. If it belongs to this one, it belongs to me. If they have it, it's mine. Well, it's not. 24:26 And what you need to do is you need to take ownership of what the Father sends you. You take ownership of what the Father sends you, you'll receive the right inheritance. If you don't own what the Father sends you, you'll get the wrong inheritance. You're going to get an inheritance. It can be for you or it can be against you, but you're going to get an inheritance. Is anybody hearing me this morning? So again, if you do not protect what's been given to you, you will not receive the inheritance that comes with it. Scripture is chock-full. 24:57 I mean, there's overflowing with stories of people who paid attention to the wrong details and as a result received the wrong inheritance. I'm going to talk about some. So let me share a glimpse into the story of a few of these people. And I'm going to begin with a man that you're familiar with. His name is Absalom. Absalom, and I'm going to do, just give a little glimpse into each of these lives of these people so that I don't bore you with all the details, but I'm going to make the point with each of them. But Absalom was the son of King David, and you can read about him in 2 Samuel and other places too, but 2 Samuel is the story of his life. 25:28 Absalom forfeited his inheritance because of his disobedience to his father. He paid attention to the wrong details. King David was his father. Because of his disobedience to his father, he murdered his brother Amnon and later led a revolt against his father, the king. Absalom's revolt, ultimately, if you read the story, it led to his death. 25:58 Which sealed his fate. And then this is what it did, Chino. Because he paid attention to the wrong details. Where do I belong? What is my seat? What is my purpose? Because he was paying attention to the wrong details, he received the wrong inheritance. So what Absalom did is when he died, he completely removed himself from the line of succession that was promised him because he was part of the lineage of David. Amen. 26:26 Completely removed himself. See, he received an inheritance, but his inheritance was empty of God's purpose. We're all going to get an inheritance. One that is full of the purpose of God or one that is empty of the purpose of God. Inheritance is coming. Absalom's inheritance came from rebellion and lack of trust rather than the promise that was meant for him. And then Judas. In the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke, we read about Judas, one of Jesus' disciples. 27:04 We read about his betrayal and how he forfeited his purposed inheritance. His purposed inheritance was not to be remembered as the betrayer. His purposed inheritance was to be remembered as one of the founding disciples of the gospel of Jesus Christ and a builder of the church. But instead, even though he got an inheritance, his inheritance was empty the promise of God. He paid attention to the wrong details and Judas received because of it the wrong inheritance. 27:41 In the book of Judges, we're told of the story of Samson. Samson was born to be the breaker. This is really with him. Man, I could talk about Samson forever. 27:54 for weeks, probably could do a series on just him. But he was born to be the breaker of the yoke of the Philistines over the Israelites. There was an oppression. They oppressed them, and they had been doing this forever. And he did what was right instead in his own eyes, and he forfeited the inheritance of deliverance purpose for him. 28:16 He did not deliver. He was purposed, born, his inheritance was to be one that delivered Israel from the yoke of oppression that was on them by the Philistines. He did not accomplish that task. He was given this gift from God to deliver Israel from the oppression and failed to do so. They were not delivered. In fact, the Philistines were not delivered. 28:39 The Israelites were not delivered from the hand of the Philistines for over a hundred years after Samson died. This is all important. You have to understand what I'm saying today. When Yahweh puts things in order, when He puts things in place, when God has determined this is what the purposed inheritance is, there is a timing for it. The only time it falls out of timing is when we get caught up in the wrong details. Another thing. 29:11 Samson was warned by his parents not to marry outside of the Israelite women. And he did so anyways against their instruction and against God's design. You know her name. He married a Philistine woman named Delilah. She's often blamed. She's often what we lay blame. It's her fault because she convinced him to do this or to have his hair cut or whatever, fall asleep, whatever. She convinced him of all of these things. But she was not the one that was responsible enough 29:44 For his calling and obedience to it. Samson was the one responsible for his calling and his obedience to it. No matter who was around him and in his life. It was his responsibility to pay attention to the details that would lead to the inheritance that God had purposed for him. But because he got caught up with the wrong details... 30:09 He still saw the big picture. I'm a man of God. I'm a Nazarite until death. I'm the yada yada. He could say all of these things and do it with pride. Yet, paying attention to the wrong details did not allow him to fulfill what God called him to fulfill. He paid attention to the wrong details, received the wrong inheritance. Now, many will say, well, on the day of his death, you know, he got it all right because he pushed out the columns of the temple and thousands died on that day. Thousands of the Philistines died on that day, but so did he. 30:40 I can tell you today, you can read that story a hundred times over. It was not God's will. Yahweh did not say to Samson, today I'm going to empower you to kill yourself. Samson said, if you will just one more time give me my strength. Just one more time. The father gave to him what the father did not want to give to him. It wasn't the father's will that a few thousand Philistines died. It was the father's will that the entire nation of the Philistines would be lost to their oppression over the Israelites. 31:14 Do you hear me today? If we pay attention to the wrong details, we are going to get the wrong inheritance. And I've got news for you. There's an inheritance that's better than the one that your daddy and your mama and your grandparents and your uncles and your aunts and whomever are going to leave to you. There's an inheritance that will provide for you way more than that. And if you don't get the inheritance of heaven right, you will never get the inheritance of man right. And then there's the prodigal son, which... 31:54 You know, when we read our Bibles and we dive into the story of the prodigal son, we read this and that's what, you know, the headline says and we read that. But if you know me, you know I don't refer to that as the story of the prodigal son because it's not so much about the son as it is about the father. Today, however, I'm going to make it about the son. 1 Corinthians 15 verses 11 through 16. I want to read this. I want to read it right out of my Bible. 1 Corinthians chapter 11, I mean, I'm sorry, chapter 15. 32:29 Beginning with verse 11 says, therefore, whether it was I or they, so we preach and so you believe. Now, if Christ has preached, am I in the right spot? Yeah. Now, if Christ has preached that he has been raised from the dead, let me see. I'm in the wrong spot. Let me read it on here. There was a man who had two sons and the younger of them said to his father, father, give me the share of property that is coming to me. It should be Luke 15, not first Corinthians. Give me the share that is coming to me. And he divided his property between his sons. 33:07 They're between him and his son. 33:36 Reduced because he paid attention to the wrong details. See, he looked at his father and he said, look at what he's got. All that belongs to me. And all the while, his true inheritance wasn't what he saw with his eyes. It's what would come after that, was what would come later. See, if my children were to get whatever we have laid up for them today in the natural, if they were to get what we've laid up for them today, it would be nice, but it wouldn't provide for them for a lifetime. They're still going to have to work. They'd still have to do, they'd still, they'd have to carry on. 34:08 But if they'll pay attention to the details in their own lives, when they get the inheritance, a couple things will happen because I'm going to be around a long time. And their inheritance is building and their inheritance is growing and the time's going to come, it's going to be a blessing that I hope will cause their eyes to pop out. That's in the natural sense. But I'm going to tell you, if they don't pay attention to the right details, it doesn't matter what the amount is. When the amount comes or when the inheritance comes, if the right details weren't paid attention to, it will not last. Amen. 34:40 And what looked like abundance and what looked like fruit and what looked like all of that will be nothing more than pods that pigs eat. If they're not faithful in their tithe today, I'm using my family. If my kids aren't faithful in their tithe and their offering, I won't even leave them an inheritance. Now that might sound harsh, but I'm telling you, if they're not going to honor God, they're getting nothing from my wife and me. And as long as they honor Him, they will remain in my will and our will. 35:20 But if they choose to not honor him, they will get nothing. Because everything my wife and I have, we have because we've paid attention to the details and the Father has blessed us and I will not put what is holy into the hands of unrighteousness. See, the prodigal son was eager and he was ambitious. But without discipline, he paid attention to the wrong details, forfeiting his inheritance. Absalom was overcome with pride and arrogance. 35:57 And because he paid attention to the wrong details, he forfeited his inheritance. Judas was blinded by a lust for money and as a result of paying attention to the wrong details, forfeited his inheritance. Samson was imprisoned by his own beauty and strength, paid attention to the wrong details and therefore forfeited his rightful inheritance. Not an inheritance that man lays up, but an inheritance that the Father has promised. 36:27 So what I'm saying today and I'm teaching today and I'm trying to disciple and bring into your focus the purpose of God for you. I want you to know every person in this room today that God has an inheritance for you. But you have to pay attention to the right details. Don't get caught up in those things that draw you away. Pay attention to the right details. 36:47 And if anything gets in the way of the gift that the Father has promised you and positioned you for and has released to you, if anything gets in the way of that gift, you better remove that thing from your life, even if it's a person, place, or thing. Out of the way, it is a hindrance to your inheritance. Yahweh doesn't do anything without giving us warning or opportunity to make right. Absalom had opportunity to get it right. 37:19 Judas had opportunity. Lord, if I were Judas sitting at the table with Christ and one of you is about to betray me, I'd say, it was me, but no, no. Man, if you know that already, I've changed my mind. My bad. Whoopsie. Samson, pay attention to the wrong detail. Man, she looks good. She smells good. She's good. But Samson, she's not yours. Yeah. 38:03 She wasn't accounted to you. She's outside of the promise for you. She's never going to be your helpmate. She's going to get in the way of helping you all together. One of the things, I'm blessed, and let me just say this, and then I'm going to give you an opportunity today to really let Holy Spirit heal maybe in you some places that maybe have been misaligned, some details that might be skewed. But, you know, one of the blessings of my life, my wife, babe, stand up and let everybody look at you. Yes, I want you to please stand up. Stand up. 38:41 Stand up and look at everybody. Stand up, babe. Look at everybody. I'm blessed. She has been my helpmate for 34 years. She never gets in the way. She's never one time been a Delilah. She's never one time been a Jezebel in my life. She's never one time tried to hinder me from doing. Now keep in mind, the leadership of this house doesn't belong to her and me. I'm the shepherd. She's not. That doesn't bother her. 39:34 Because she's my helpmate. We don't lead this ministry. I do. It's my calling. But this is what she has. She comes alongside me as a helpmate to the calling that God called me to. But then she has a calling. And you know what I do? I come alongside that. She's the director of the preschool. Do you know what? I'm not even going to try to be that. First poopy diaper I smell, I'm out. That's not my calling. She can sit and talk with people and minister to them in ways that I couldn't even begin to do. 40:09 I'm never going to get in the way of that. She's never gotten in the way of mine. The one time that it ever came close to the story I told when we went to Alabama, Bryan, Alabama, and that church was offered to us. She was like, I need you to tell me what you're going to do right now. And I knew there was something in her that was not being a helpmate. She could share her stories too. But we got back to the house. We went on that whole six and a half hour drive. And I would not tell her if we were going to move there or not because I knew at that point that 40:43 Not that she was misaligned with me or didn't believe in me. She just didn't want to live in Alabama. And to be honest, neither did I. No more than I wanted to live in Melbourne, Florida. Those of you that know the story. And we got home and I said to her, I said, I'm going to cut the grass. And I went out and cut the grass. She came out and I'm not going to tell all of it, but she comes out there and she brings me a glass of tea. She said, I'm sorry. She said, whatever's in your heart to do, whatever God's called you to do, I'm going to stand beside you. 41:15 And she has not wavered. Not one single time. Does that mean that she always agrees with something that I might do? Doesn't. Doesn't. And I'll listen. If she has something to say, I'll listen to her. But my decision is never made based on whether she agrees or disagrees with me. And she'll tell you that today. My decision is made on what I believe God's called me to do. And you know what she'll do? She'll come around after the fact and she'll say, you know what, honey, I trust the voice of God in you. I trust the voice. It's not making her smaller than me or me bigger than her. But in the house, the leadership, I'm the leader and she's not. 41:48 In her calling, she's the leader of that calling, and I'm not. So she's a helpmate to me, and I'm a helpmate to her. And when we find those positions properly, and we fill those positions properly, the inheritance is right. Amen. 42:02 So I can tell you because that relationship, maybe this is for somebody because I wasn't planning on going down this road, but I can tell you the inheritance of our relationship today is we're blessed. All of our kids serve the Lord. They love the Lord with all their heart, soul, and mind. My grandkids are being raised up in the house of God to honor Him, to lift up their voice, and to praise, and to worship. 42:20 Because we paid attention to the details. Have we always done it perfect? We've not always done it perfect. But I'm telling you, we've paid attention to the details in our inheritance, the inheritance that we walk in today spiritually, emotionally, relationally, with our children. Man, I'm telling you, it's miraculous. And there's many of you in this room that can share the same story that I'm sharing right now. 42:43 I'm saying all that today to tell you this. If you pay attention to the right details, you're going to get the right inheritance. But you pay attention to the wrong details, you're going to get the wrong inheritance. And we choose what inheritance we get. Our inheritance isn't up to the Father. We might want to make it that way, Tamara. We might want to say, it's in God's hands. This is all in God's hands. And the Father's saying, what are you talking about? I have it all in my hands. I can give you a good one or you can get a bad one. At the end of the day, it's up to you. Because I gave all of you a will. What are you going to will to do? What will you will to choose? 43:14 What detail are you going to choose to pay attention to? One that leads you to a righteous inheritance or one that leads you to an inheritance, but it will never match up with what I would have given you. Are you going to protect the things that I give you? Are you going to stand up for them? I would ask of you in this house, and as I go back to even the parking space, I would ask of you in this house. When the Father's given you something, don't feel like you're not a good Christian because you bow up on somebody and say, no, not in this house. Yeah. 43:47 I'm about as tired of wimpy believers as God is. It's time that people stand up and say, you know what, I'm going to tell you something. You're encroaching. And guess what? You're not bringing those shoes on this soil. So you better clean your feet. Get your faith right. Get your light. You better get some things right because I want you to know this thing that the Father has given me, I'm not going to cast my pearls before a swine and pretend like they don't matter. Is anybody hearing me today? Amen. 44:22 I believe oftentimes people don't receive an inheritance because God knows they won't protect it. Why would I give them that? They're going to squander it. They're going to give it away. They're going to lose it. They're going to forfeit it. Why would I give them that in the first place? 44:38 So they're going to have to live with their choices. They're going to have to live with what they've chosen, what inheritance that they've chosen. I'm going to tell you, this is what I know, though. In the middle of all of that, some of us in this room, there might be some watching online today, and you've chosen an inheritance that he didn't choose for you, but it's the inheritance that you're walking in today. I've got news for you. We serve a God. 44:58 that still holds in his hand the inheritance that he intended for you and that what will get you that inheritance that he intended for you is you standing up and saying, Father, I repent. I've paid attention to the wrong details and today I'm coming before you and I am repenting. Let my see sharply. Let my ears hear clearly today so that I can walk out what you promised to me. Would you stand to your feet this morning? So what is the inheritance that you choose? 45:38 Michael, this is rhetorical. You don't have to answer. But what is the inheritance that you choose? Nick, what is the inheritance that you choose? What inheritance do you choose? We don't get to just choose it and then write it, put it on a piece of paper, put it on the wall and say, this is my inheritance. No. Everything that happens before that determines whether or not that actually becomes our inheritance. All the little details along the way. 46:03 Am I faithful to him? Am I faithful to her? Am I faithful to them? Am I faithful to what he's asked me to do? Am I being faithful over the responsibilities he's given me? Whatever it is, am I being faithful over those things that he's laid before me? And if I'm faithful over those things, the big picture I see in my heart will be the big picture that I plant my feet in in the days to come. Do you hear me today? So I don't know. I don't know because I can't speak for anybody in this room, Matt. I can't speak for a single person, but I'm pretty confident he wouldn't have given me this message if there weren't people in this room. 46:34 That have chosen over and over again the wrong details. And over and over again the wrong details lead to a very different inheritance than what you've expected. But you've never been able to put two and two together. You didn't realize until today. Man, I'm choosing the wrong things. That's why I'm getting the wrong outcome. You have opportunity. Transcript generated automatically from the audio, so a few words may be off.
